Laura Fenton Kovanda
Laura Fenton Kovanda, a 5-time U.S Open Champion, is one of the most sought-after Teaching Pros in the sport of Pickleball. She not only has an extensive athletic background, but also impressive teaching and coaching histories. Her fields of expertise are in biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise physiology, sports psychology, neuroscience, nutrition and athletic training. Laura has a “great eye” in seeing what the problem in a player’s strokes, footwork, court positioning, etc. might be. Many instructors can feed balls, but do they see the problem, or better yet, do they know how to fix it. This is just one area Laura is extremely well known for. And if that’s not enough, she also includes additional information in teaching you how to train your brain, shows you exercises to prevent and/or treat injuries, how to mentally focus & stay motivated, and what foods could make a difference in winning more games.
Laura (LFK) is also a National Champion in four other sports (basketball, softball, tennis and racquetball). She is an all-around athlete (who was once trained by Diana Nyad), a 3-time Olympic qualifier and represented the U.S. Racquetball Team for 15 years, adding 5 World titles, 3 Pan-American Gold medals, and 33 National Championships to her resume. Laura has coached both college basketball and high school tennis, broadcasted college football, basketball and volleyball and personally trained college and elite-level athletes, some preparing for the Olympics and the Football Combine.
Mimi, as some call her, absolutely adores her 8 grandchildren. Her love for God and her family are the most precious in her life. In her spare time, you can find Laura in, on or near water, playing pickleball, tennis, racquetball, softball or somewhere in the mountains, biking, socializing with friends, playing music, watching movies or just enjoying a nice fire.
