Laura Fenton Kovanda

Director, Senior Pro Player, Top Teaching Professional

Laura Fenton Kovanda, a 5-time U.S Open Champion not only has an extensive athletic background, but also impressive teaching and coaching histories. Her fields of expertise are in biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise physiology, sports psychology, neuroscience, nutrition and athletic training. Laura has a “great eye” in seeing what mechanically is creating the problem in a student’s swing, footwork, shot, serve, overhead, etc… Many can see what a player did wrong, but do they know how to correct it? This is just one area Laura is quite well known for – fixing bad habits that have been created due to incorrect body mechanics / motor skills.

Laura (LFK) is also a National Champion in four other sports. A 3-time Olympic qualifier, she represented the U.S. Racquetball Team for 15 years, adding 5 World titles and 33 National Championships to her resume. She has coached college basketball and high school tennis and personally trained college and elite-level athletes preparing for the Olympics and the Football Combine.

Mimi, as some call her, absolutely adores her 7 grandchildren. Her love for God and her family are the most precious in her life. In her spare time, you can find her in, on or near water, playing pickleball, tennis, racquetball, softball or snow skiing, enjoying a nice fire, eating most of the time, or playing music.

“When we combine the knowledge (cognitive learning) with the practice of proper motor skills (physical learning), then add mental imagery, some reflex training, nutritional tips and strength/stretching exercises, the court then just becomes X’s and O’s – it’s a matter of practicing, executing, and always adding to one’s game what one has “learned.”
